Artist's Statement - Explore the Art of Shibori
Doshi creates exquisite hand dyed clothing in original designs that range from contemporary to traditional. Doshi's training is as a costume designer. She has created apparel for theatre, dance, television, ice skating, and theme parks.

Shibori, an ancient Japanese textile dyeing process, is the method she uses for her artistic expression. The technique involves knotting, pleating, rolling, folding or sewing different parts of a cloth to create a resisted area during the dyeing process. When the cloth is returned to its two-dimensional form, the design that emerges is the result of the three-dimensional shape. Color, the choosing and mixing of dyes, is an important and defining part of Doshi's process. She works purely from instinct and intuition.

My work in fiber arts reflects the constant changes I experience in my personal and spiritual life. I use my work to explore the forces of nature and the mysteries of the soul.
