Janice Schmidt, Mosaic Artist

Artist's Statement
Janice Schmidt is the creative force behind Mosaic Goddess. Her work ranges in scale from large mosaic murals; mosaics in restaurants, kitchens or bathrooms to her smaller, wearable treasures. She was inspired to make mosaic belt buckles while studying mosaic in Italy. That inspiration turned into a passion for using the mosaic medium to make wearable art. Continually experimenting with color and material (glass, semi-precious stones, metal, carved bone, shell) she creates beautiful one-of-a-kind treasures. While there's more space to "paint" in mosaic on a larger piece, creating in a smaller scale provides an opportunity to focus on using exotic materials to create beauty.

Producing art is an incredible opportunity to grow, not just as an artist, but as a person. I use it as an attempt to express out into the world what's in my heart and a way to connect with and inspire others.
